Northern Breezes Sailing School

    Northern Breezes Sailing School is pleased to announce its schedule of activities on Lake Michigan for 2008.  Courses from basic keelboat through bareboat certification will be offered in the beautiful port of Ludington, Michigan.  Ludington boasts miles of the most beautiful beaches to be found anywhere.  We have beautiful parks and excellent lodging and restaurant facilities nearby to suit your every imaginable need.   Captain Dale Fitch will be operating the Lake Michigan courses.  Captain Dale is licensed by the US Coast Guard and an ASA certified instructor.  Dale has over thirty years experience sailing on Lake Michigan and has instructed courses for Northern Breezes in Ludington, Bayfield, Wisconsin and in the British Virgin Islands.  Basic keelboat sailing will be taught on a Capri 22, and the advanced courses will be conducted on a Hunter Legend 37.5.  Both of these boats are modern boats maintained in pristine condition and subjected to annual Coast Guard inspections.

     Basic keelboat sailing will consist of three four hour classes with participant to instructor ratios not to exceed three to one.  To make your experience more enjoyable, there are limited opportunities to stay aboard during the course.  Click Basic Keelboat above for class schedules and additional information.

     Basic Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Charter Certification will be conducted as a four day module with participant to instructor ratios not to exceed four to one.  Courses will involve staying onboard the yacht and cruising for an overnight anchorage at one of the harbors to the north or south of Ludington.   Click on Coastal Cruising above for schedules and more information.

     Do you want to involve the whole family or a group of friends?  Northern Breezes offers our Friends and Family program for the family or group that wants to sail together.  This course is our Basic Coastal Cruising and Bareboat Charter Certification course, but geared for the family or group that needs only a single member the obtain bareboat charter certification.  The advantage is that everyone receives the training necessary to properly sail and crew, which will greatly increase the probability that future sailing excursions will be successful and safe.  Also, because your family or group are the only participants onboard, we can customize the class into a mini-vacation for your family or group.  Click on Friends and Family above for more information.

     Interested in a day charter or sunset charter?  We are offering captained charters out of Ludington.  We offer two an one-half hour charters, half day and full day sailing charters.  Our sunset charters have been popular, so be sure to contact us in advance to reserve your charter.  Charters will be available from June 15th until September 15th, subject to availability.  Contact us in advance to arrange the details for your trip.   Interested in greater adventures?  We can also provide charters to Door County or the Manitou Islands.
